The goodness.

I have to hand it to Pat's, I thought they were slightly better than Geno's. Both sandwiches were excellent, and further evidence of the BMC theory.

Suds

Dad and I took a trip into St. Paul today to visit the Summit Brewery. We went on a little tour and then got to have a few free samples.

Their wheat beer has been a regular brew of mine for a while, but this gave me a taste of something new, and my favorite was definitely the Pilsener. Lots of character yet still delightfully crisp and clean.

on the roof

I helped my dad out with the installation of a new skylight today. Mom took this picture of us through the open hole in the ceiling as we were setting up to modify the frame a bit for the new window. Dad really did all the work, I mostly just ran stuff up and down the ladder for him.

D'ah!

Sorry that the blog got so far behind. I'll try to get better about posting more frequently. The trip is going great. Somehow, even without work, there is never enough time in the day.

upgrade

Back at home with the parents I was able to take advantage of dad's tools and wood supply so I made a little upgrade to my bed.

This handy little board swings up into position so that I have 1/2 of the back area to sleep on, without having to take down the table and setup the whole bed area. Thanks also goes to dad for design consultation, hardware, and that nifty router job he did on the support.

Palisade Head Climbing

Late on Sunday I found a very friendly group of local Minnesota climbers that were up on the north shore for the weekend. I camped with them and then got to climb with them at Palisade head... in this picture that's the big cliff along lake superior with the radio tower on top.

The most convenient way to do these routes is to rappel in from the top of the cliff (where the parking lot is) and then climb back out. Here's someone on Superior Crack.

This is Tennen (sp?) climbing on Phantom Crack.

It wasn't a huge day of climbing, since most everyone else had been climbing all weekend and still needed to drive back home to the twin cities, but it was great to get out and stretch the muscles on a few climbs.

I also needed to stop and stretch once on the drive back home, so I picked up a special treat.

Sweet sticky yummerific goodness.
